A Walk to Ponder
On the trail that led to the cross, I was captivated by the dry ground. The cracked soil looked as if rain hasn’t sprinkled its presents in years, yet the vibrant hues of various shades of green, yellow, red, and purple flora complimented its withered path. Surrounding me was a magnificent wonder, a feast for my eyes to devour its exquisite beauty. Below the surface hides a clandestine treasure, a treasure that exceeds all riches. Underneath this soiled façade, contains the essentials of water, vitamins and minerals that supplies nourishment to the tender roots of the undergrowth. Though we do not see the work that is taking place below, it still is taking place. Though the showers of life-giving rain have withheld its gift to this part of the terrain – growth happened, plants grew, and new-life sprouted up. God in His infinite wisdom has created a way for vegetation to flourish, without thought to this season of lack.
So it is like us, He created us to grow and flourish. For years we may have felt as if our season of drought has dried us up so much that we are, for sure, going to wither away and die. Yet God in His love causes growth to flourish on our inside, though we may feel a spiritual famine. Deep down under our undergrowth is budding the new life, new hope, new dreams, a magnificent future that has been ordained for us since the beginning of time. It may have felt as if He forgot about us, or that we blew it so many times that He gave up, but actually He has been working on the inside of you. In Genesis 6 God looked at creation and saw the mess it was in; but instead of wiping it out and starting over, He saw you. And because He saw you, He created a better plan, one that you His magnificent masterpiece, could be all that He knew you would be.

When I ponder this kind of love
I stand in awe of our Master Farmer.
He knows exactly what we need, when we need it,
and provides even when there is a season of drought.
