Getting Dressed? Don't Forget to Put on Love
Blessings, Beloved Women of God! Jesus has something special planned just for you today. Yes, it is your day for the remarkable to happen. I pray you will wait with hope and expectation for His love to touch you in a special way!
Do you wake up wanting to love others? Is loving others hard? Do you love others unconditionally?
The Scripture the Lord has put in my heart for you today is Colossians 3:14 (NLT). It says, “The most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony.” In that, we see that love is an action you put on. Just as you stand in your closet staring aimlessly at a sea of clothing, eventually you have to choose what you will put on. If perhaps you choose to wear your old ratty sweats and ripped t-shirt, then you will reflect what you wear and feel ratty. However, if you put on a new outfit that makes you feel like you are all that – your attitude will be a reflection of that positive feeling.
Just as we put on clothes, we need to put on love. If we put on a false love it will reflect through our actions, words, or deeds. So we must put on a genuine spirit of love. What does love look like? Jesus is our example. Love is seen when we walk in the Fruit of the Spirit. Love is seen in our behavior and how we treat people.
Love is giving our most valuable resource: our time and energy. It may take effort and thought; we may have to use our own resources. Overall, to love someone is a choice. Many times, choosing to do it may not settle well with our flesh. In some circumstances, it is doing it before our feelings catch up. All the while, it is doing it in Jesus’ love. Jesus did not wait for us to love Him before He died on the cross. No, He gave His life for us even before we loved Him. We too are to love others in the same manner. May you feel His love in unprecedented ways!
In His glorious love,
Kelly
